February 15th – International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD)
A Day set aside to raise awareness about childhood cancer and its unique challenges. Today, we shine a light on the heart-wrenching reality of childhood cancer. International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) raises awareness about the unique challenges faced by young cancer warriors, survivors, and their families. In Nigeria, childhood cancer claims far too many young lives, with leukemia, brain tumors, and lymphoma being the most common. What’s equally alarming is the hidden culprit: Poor Air Quality! An often-overlooked problem especially in developing countries like Nigeria. With Nigeria’s rising PM2.5 levels and the daunting task of accessing adequate healthcare, especially for families with limited financial resources, our children’s fragile lives are hanging in the balance. From cases of delayed diagnoses and inadequate treatment, cancerous growth is unhindered leading to a higher mortality rate of children with cancer. By inspiring action and promoting clean, healthy air, we can reduce the risk of cancer in children.

The Shocking Truth:
Indoor air pollution increases cancer risks in children! In today’s world, many believe that being indoors is safer for children, however, Nigeria’s poor air quality is a pervasive problem, with increasing levels of PM2.5, VOCs from household cleaning agents, furniture, etc., found in both urban and rural areas. Children are disproportionately vulnerable, as their developing lungs and brains are more susceptible to being affected. This highlights the importance of clean air in all indoor spaces where children spend most of their time. This ranges from school classrooms, homes, worship centers, etc.

What Can We Do?
Awareness is key! By recognizing the importance of good air quality, we can proactively protect our children from cancer. We may not have control over the air outside, but seeking healthier solutions to protect the air indoors without the risk of side effects, is a great way to start.
A Solution for Cleaner Air:
At Healthy Air Nigeria, we’re committed to improving indoor air quality. With our patented D-orbital Nano Oxide (DNO) Catalyst Technology, HA DNO Air purification systems are designed to remove 99.99% of all indoor air pollutants and toxins from the air, creating a safer and healthier environment for children. The installation of Healthy Air DNO air purification units in schools, homes, and other indoor spaces where children spend most of their time, can significantly reduce the risk of cancer and promote cleaner air and better well-being of children.
This solution is not only effective but also financially and psychologically beneficial. By preventing the occurrence of childhood cancers, we can avoid the emotional trauma and financial burden that comes with it. For our young warriors, this air-purifying solution helps in cancer care and management.

Conclusion:
Childhood cancer is a ticking time bomb, but by inspiring action and promoting clean air, we can reduce the risk of cancer in children. Let’s breathe hope into the lives of young cancer warriors and their families. Together, we can make a difference.
